“THE WORLD DECISION”

John Wallach – Executive Director of The Elie Wiesel Foundation For Humanity
to Marion and Robert Einbeck Cofounders of the Time for Peace Film & Music Awards
December 15, 1995

Created by Marion and Robert Einbeck, The Time for Peace Film & Music Awards have for twenty years promoted films and music that convey humanist values. By means of film and music they have also brought these values to the realm of teaching and institutions of education. Once the nominations were made by film and music personalities, the jury would consist of twenty to thirty-five ambassadors to the United Nations and, more recently, to the European Council.

In order to be accessible to a global audience by adding a jury committee consisting of Internet users across the world, Time for Peace decided to call for a temporary hiatus and restructure its organization to prepare this new concept.

Thus, it is now enriched by Franck-Luc Dancelme, a new partner with extraordinary expertise in international events. Marion and Robert Einbeck, together with Franck-Luc Dancelme, have decided to undertake this new adventure, which is to promote Humanist Values and Peace throughout the world through film, music, as well as literature with ‘The World Decision’ as its main theme. ‘The World Decision’ because establishing these values is possible only through the support of every individual in the world.

In association with The Time for Peace Film & Music Awards, ‘The World Decision’ will emphasize the extent to which Humanist Values and Peace are conveyors fundamental to the best development of our different societies and of tomorrow’s world, a world that will open the door to solidarity, cooperation, and dialogue between each and every one of us. The World Decision for the Better.

A new concept that will allow any person anywhere to participate in selecting and voting by choosing cinematographic, musical, and literary works that bear humanist values and peace. To be a stakeholder in the concept of ‘The World Decision’ one need only register on the appropriate page of The Time for Peace Film & Music Awards for a minimum of amount of USD 1.00 or its Euro equivalent. Each internet user can then download the films, music, and books that he or she has not yet seen, heard, or read. The cinematographic, musical, and literary works will be selected from among those that have been released or published during the two preceding years.

In addition, there will be a lottery in each country at the closing of the vote so that a specified number of individuals who participated in the vote can be invited to the award ceremony, to be organized every two years in a different country. The event will be shown on all five continents and broadcast in mondiavisionso that it can be seen around the world.

Two stages are in place for the realization of this very innovative concept:

  • The first consists of relaunching the organization that is currently dormant in New York by linking it with sponsors and organizations that are working for humanist values and peace. These will assist Time for Peace in covering its restructuring expenses as well as its initial starting and logistics costs to establish the second stage and open a new office in the USA. The official restructuring formalities will be set up by the accounting firm and legal advice of Smyle & Associates, LLC in New York.
  • In order for the new version of The Time for Peace Film & Music Awards to come into being soon, a second stage will put a logistics in place by which to approach potential international partners and patrons who are sensitive to this humanist concern. They not only will be financially associated with the launching of the concept but will also participate in Time for Peace as members of the Board of Directors.

The distribution of the financial contributions will be carried out as follows:

  1. To promote the concept throughout the world in several languages through social networks and the Internet, such as Google, YouTube, Twitter, etc.
  2. To set up a media campaign with the help of a New York public relations agency such as Rubenstein & Associates or Ogilvy with whom Marion and Robert Einbeck have worked for previous award ceremonies. For example, within the context of the fifteenth anniversary of the annual ceremony, the founders of Time for Peace were invited to ring the Nasdaq bells. At that time, the event reached more than 70 million people in America.
  3. To be connected to the industries of film, music, and the literary world for the selection and nomination of the films, music, and books. No more than 5 films, 5 pieces of music, and 5 books will be selected every two years.
  4. To have the books, song lyrics, and film subtitles translated of those works that are not in the five to seven most important languages, namely English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, German, and Arabic.
  5. To draw up agreements with the film and music production companies and the publishing houses.
  6. To put on-line a logistics of participation in the vote via Internet and to define specifications for the final implementation of the ceremony.
  7. To close down the vote and launch the lottery operation in each participating country.
  8. To send out an international call so that a country can be chosen and participate in the launching of the first ceremony of the new Time for Peace Film & Music Awards concept, which will be the 18th award ceremony.
  9. To negotiate the broadcasting rights of the event with the TV channels.
  10. To organize the final event.

The total cost will be covered by the participation of Internet users, the downloads, the broadcasting rights, the rights to attend the ceremony, and the sponsors.
